This brushless motor has 5 wires. The external controller provides an easy way to control speed and direction but it is not required. If your application does not require variable speed, you could connect the brushless motor directly to a 12 or 24 volt DC source without using the external controller. The motor connections are as follows:

• Red wire – power supply positive
• Black wire – power supply negative
• White wire – controls motor direction when using the external controller
• Blue wire – accepts a 20Khz PWM signal to control speed. If this line is floating, the motor will run at maximum speed
• Yellow wire – tachometer output signal to calculate or monitor motor RPM
